Fine Art | Gallery 30 in Gettysburg, PA

Fine Art

Gallery 30 features the original artwork of award-winning artists who work in a range of mediums and employ a variety of styles in their craft. Many of our artists are local to Pennsylvania, including several from right here in Gettysburg. The historical art we feature at Gallery 30 is exceptional. Our artists work in oil paints to masterfully interpret and create original Civil War portraits, historical scenes and battlefield landscapes. We also feature an extraordinary group of painters and photographers who create thought-provoking contemporary art, including colorful impressionistic landscapes, modern photographic giclee prints and surreal Abraham Lincoln caricature.

Jonathan Frazier

Local artist Jonathan Frazier’s landscape paintings have been exclusively represented by Gallery 30 for over a decade. Jonathan paints in the field as much as possible, exploring townscapes and landscapes in the Gettysburg area and beyond. These are not historical paintings, but rather vibrantly colored, expressive interpretations of Gettysburg as it appears today.

Jonathan’s highly creative oil paintings often depict sweeping scenes of the landscape as viewed from higher vantage points. Visitors to the Gettysburg National Military Park are likely to see Jonathan painting at his easel atop one of the observation towers or at his favorite site, Little Round Top. Jonathan's work as a multi-instrumental solo performance musician also influences his painting style and sensibility.

Carolyn Gibboney was raised in South Central Pennsylvania, where as a child she developed a talent for drawing and later an interest in working with oil and pastels. However, her artistic endeavors were eventually put on hold as she pursued her career in business. In June of 2003 Carolyn revived her passion for oil painting and resumed taking classes at local art associations.

Carolyn held her first art exhibition in 2005, and she is now a member of Oil Painters of America. Her love of nature, animals and travel provides the inspiration for her oil paintings. While animals are her favorite subjects, Carolyn also paints still-life, figurative and landscape scenes in a style influenced by the French, Dutch, American and Russian Impressionists.

Leo Goode

Leo Goode is an award-winning artist from Western Pennsylvania. When he was twelve years old Leo found an old set of oil paints in his attic, and he has been painting ever since. The inspiration for many of Leo’s paintings comes from his love of nature and the rolling hills of Pennsylvania. He believes that painting from real life is the best way to convey the beauty and vibrancy found in nature, and he hopes to reach his audience with a truthful yet interpretive rendering of his subjects.

Leo loves to use color and the effect of light on color as a means of expressing his artistic impressions. Even though he wants people to see the realism in his floral and landscape paintings, he also attempts to impart a certain mystery through the impressionistic style. Over the years, Leo has studied with world-renowned artists and has taken numerous painting classes and workshops. He is a member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Society of Artists, Pittsburgh Watercolor Society and Pennsylvania Watercolor Society.

Harold Miller

After more than 31 years as an art teacher, Harold Miller retired in 2006 to pursue a full- time painting career. A 2014 visit to Arizona and treks around his home state of Pennsylvania have inspired highly diverse subject matter. Small plein air studies led to larger studio works depicting the diversity and beauty of the New England, Virginia and North Carolina landscapes. Also of particular interest is his ongoing series depicting the landscape and surviving farm structures of Gettysburg.

Harold began teaching art in the Indiana Area School district of Pennsylvania in 1975 and studied water color while on sabbatical in 1986. In 2001 he attended the first of five summer oil painting workshops in Bennington, VT conducted by the Massachusetts College of Art. His major influences include N.C. and Andrew Wyeth, Edward Hopper, Douglas Fryer, Marc Bohne and T. Allen Lawson. He continues to reside in Indiana, Pennsylvania with his wife Susan.

Diane Monday

Diane grew up in a family that moved frequently, resulting in her having attended twelve different schools by the time she graduated from high school. This pattern contributed to her becoming self-reliant, and both more comfortable with solitude and more sensitive to people. She believes this sensitivity contributed both to the quality of her art when she began painting portraits, and to her ability during the many years she spent in private practice as a psychotherapist.
Diane is a consummate student of art. After years of learning from great teachers, Diane made the transition to painting full-time. She studied portraiture, figure and color with painters John Ebersberger, David Lawton, Bonnie Roth Anderson, Abigail McBride, sculptor Stephen Perkins, and nationally renowned portrait painters, Cedric and Joanette Egeli, at their studios in Edgewater and at the famed school of impressionism in Provincetown, Massachusetts (now the Capes School of Color). More recently, she has studied with Louis Escobedo and taken workshops with Nancy Tankersley and renowned realist, Max Ginsburg.

Simonne Roy

Pennsylvania native Simonne Roy has been painting outdoors since she was a small child and has always found tremendous joy in the painting process. As a plein air painter, Simonne focuses on the quality of light and how it affects the elements in a landscape. She works in a range of different media, but she particularly enjoys the lush color and flexibility that oil paint allows.
Simonne’s highly textured paintings are created by layering on oil paints with a palette knife, a paintbrush or a combination of the two tools. She finds her inspiration in nature and is typically drawn to a subject by the emotions evoked by the scene, which are often linked to past experiences and memories. Simonne has painted a wide variety of subjects around Central Pennsylvania, and she is excited to spend time capturing the streets and farms of Gettysburg in 2016. Her paintings have been awarded at the Lewisburg Arts Festival Show and other regional art shows, and she recently completed a solo exhibit at Bucknell University.
